Beyond Design, Making a Difference in Pancreatic Cancer
In this first issue of In The Mix: My Transformative Journey with PCCF
When I first connected with the Pancreatic Cancer Cure Foundation (PCCF), a conversation with Tony Cygan, their VP, opened my eyes to the organization’s history and the poignant tale behind Amy’s Ride/Run/Walk (which you should read about here). Back then, the task at hand was a simple website revamp for amysriderunwalk.com. Little did I know, that chat would mark the beginning of a journey beyond web design.
In our initial discussion, Tony asked if I was interested. My response revealed a longing: “It would be really nice to work on something that mattered. I don’t often get opportunities to work on things that make a difference.”
The Heart of Mixie Media’s Mission
I didn’t realize it then, but that has become such an integral part of what drives me and my mission behind Mixie Media. I’ve come to realize that it fulfills me most to help those who help others.
PCCF’s Commitment Beyond Support
PCCF’s mission goes beyond supporting pancreatic cancer research and patient programs; it embodies a commitment to responsible fund stewardship. PCCF distinguishes itself by its meticulous efforts to ensure funds are wisely utilized. This commitment extends to attending lab updates from the fund beneficiaries, allowing a firsthand account of how the funds contribute to impactful research.
Representing PCCF fills me with pride. Facilitating their efforts to secure critical funding for pancreatic cancer research isn’t just a job; it’s a mission to reshape the future of pancreatic cancer into a manageable, survivable, and treatable battle for all patients. Recently, accompanying Tony and Jane on visits to hospitals benefiting from PCCF’s support—The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson Health and The Marvin and Concetta Greenberg Pancreatic Cancer Institute at Fox Chase Cancer Center—was nothing short of remarkable and inspiring. The research being conducted is nearly incomprehensible in its potential to change lives.
During our visit to Fox Chase, Tony expressed our collective sentiment,
“We’re just in awe of what you folks do and what you’re doing. You’re all part of changing the world a little bit in your way, in a big way. You’re a part of changing the world, and I don’t know if we even have the words to talk about what you folks are doing. It’s a very big deal. Thank you for that.”
Mixie Media’s Testimony to Collective Effort
Mixie Media, through its collaboration with PCCF, stands as a testament to the power of collective effort, where each small contribution plays a part in a much larger narrative of positive change. Our commitment is not just to create visually appealing websites or engaging marketing materials; it’s about being an integral part of initiatives that redefine what is possible and meaningful.
Beyond a Media Company
Together, we’re not just a media company; we’re catalysts for change, partners in progress, and champions of a brighter future.
